Teeth whitening in Shrewsbury

Most of us want our teeth to look brighter and whiter. A dazzling smile with white teeth makes you feel healthy, happy and confident. Patients from Church Stretton, Bishop’s Castle, Acton Scott and throughout Shropshire are having their teeth whitened to improve their smile quickly and safely.

Over time teeth naturally get darker and become stained due to the food and drink that are consumed. Red wine, coffee, tea and spicy food all can stain teeth and smoking has a huge negative impact on the colour of your teeth too.

A teeth whitening treatment from a professional dentist will bring back the sparkle – gradually changing the shade of your teeth so that they appear whiter and brighter. How white your teeth will go depends on several factors including your age, the health of your teeth and the current shade of your teeth. On average, most people see a difference of between 8 and 10 shades.

The process for Teeth Whitening

At your initial consultation, our cosmetic dentist will check on the health of your teeth. We will discuss the treatment and the likely results.

Teeth whitening is a safe treatment which has been used for many years. Most people with healthy teeth and gums are suitable for teeth whitening treatment, but we would advise you not to proceed if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

You should also be aware that teeth whitening treatments do not work on dental work such as veneers and crowns. You may need these replaced after your teeth whitening so that your old restorations match your new whiter smile!

After your teeth have been examined, we then take molds of your teeth which will be used to make your bespoke teeth whitening trays.

At your next appointment, our cosmetic dentist will show you how to insert the whitening gel into your trays and how the trays fit over your teeth. You will be told how long you need to wear the whitening trays for –usually every night for up to 4 weeks.

Over the course of the following weeks you will wear your teeth whitening trays as instructed and you will notice your teeth becoming whiter.

Wearing the teeth whitening trays at night is a good way to whiten teeth without any fuss or interruption to your usual daily routine. Book a free consultation with our cosmetic dentist to find out more.
